Summary/Abstract: This research has established a link between tattoos and ostentatious. Tattoos represent a way to modify and enhance the beauty of a human body, yet archeological and historical findings confirm that, since the beginnings of time, people have manifested the need to decorate their body and to make it personal and completely different from anyone else’s or to show, in such a way, that they belong to a certain group of people. This willingness of people to emphasize their inclination towards the visual and beautiful has manifested itself for centuries via different ways of making the human body more beautiful such as piercing, modification of physical characteristics using hard and painful procedures, and in recent times, more and more popular plastic surgeries. Future research on ostentatious consumption should study some of these phenomena and offer a deeper analysis of different ways to modify the human body in the name of beauty.
