Summary/Abstract: The subject of this colloquium Franco-Belgian "container in all its states," invites us to ask ourselves about the legal concept of the container (the equally "box"), complex in its definition. This notion will certainly be defined by other speakers in this symposium. In general, the container is, for all maritime operators, including shippers and maritime transport, the closest solution to the technical and economic plan. Charger and carrier shipping are the main actors and plays a leading role in maritime transport chain. Do not forget that the same charger is subject to obligations and is equally bound to respect the technical and safety rules on the use of containers.
